With a testamentary bequest, you can bequeath your entire estate, or a part thereof, protecting the rights of your legitimate heirs
and performing an act of great solidarity and social responsibility.
How to proceed
You can name the University of Bologna as universal heir in your will.
You can decide to make a bequest that is:
- unrestricted: the University decides on the use it will make of it within the scope of its institutional purposes
- restricted: you decide in your will how it is to be used
What you can bequeath
You can bequeath your entire estate or a part thereof, such as money, real estate, movable property, securities, shares or investment funds.
These assets can be converted into cash to finance concrete research activities and projects, or used for specific institutional purposes,
contributing to the advancement of education, research or healthcare.
You cannot bequeath property that is 'unmarketable' within the meaning of the law.
What happens after the reading of the will
The University will assess on a case-by-case basis whether to accept the bequest under benefit of inventory.
In the event of accepting unrestricted bequests, the University may, subject to agreement, update the family on
how the bequest will be used.
